Everybody is looking for a defense that brings the heat on the quarterback. Some guys will shift or manually move players to generate a pass rush. Sometimes it’s best not to do anything at all. One such defense we found that brings the heat on the QB without any manually movement is the Nickel 1-5-5 Under Smoke. The inside linebacker who lines up behind the NT is the defender who generally will bring the heat up the A Gap between the center and left guard. This type of pressure can break down a quarterback quickly.
