GAMEPLAY TIPS

The best defense is a good defense. You need to avoid your opponent?s punches to survive.

If your opponent is more powerful than you are, do not go toe to toe with them. Use movement to avoid their punches while landing your own.

Styles make a fight. Use the ratings where you have an advantage to win the fight. Avoid situations that highlight your disadvantages.

While having a powerful puncher can do damage, other ratings are just as beneficial to winning a fight. Heart allows you to get up from more knockdowns. Stamina keeps your energy levels high.

If your opponent is faster a foot or has higher hand speed than you do, work him to the body in early rounds. Body punches will slow your opponent down during the course of a fight giving you a big advantage in later rounds.

Cuts hinder a boxer?s ability to defend himself. If you see some damage on your opponent?s face, keep hitting that area and make it worse. This will slow down their ability to block or lean out of the way of your punches.

If you score a knockdown on your opponent, they are helpless as they fall to the canvas. Try and hit them as they are falling and it will be harder for them to get up. The best way to do this is to score a knockdown with your opponent in the corner or against the ropes.

When the two boxers are outside of punch range, one of the boxers has to initiate fighting by coming in to range. This puts him at a disadvantage as he is vulnerable as he is moving in. If you see your opponent moving in to range, throw a big punch right as he is moving in and try to catch him on the move.

If you see your opponent targeting you every time you come in to punch range, mix it up some. Move towards him and then back away right before he punches. Other times, move in and throw punches of your own. This will prevent your opponent from always targeting you as you move in to range. It will also confuse him -- he will not know when you are going to throw a punch. This will help you land more punches.

Making your opponent throw punches that miss will tire him out. If he misses a lot of punches, you will have a big advantage in energy which will help you win the fight in the later rounds.

There is a big difference between being scared and being stupid. If your opponent has you hurt, stay away from his punches and try to survive the round. This will help boost your health as well as save you a point on the scorecards.

Circling your opponent makes you a hard target to hit. It is easiest to land punches with the hand on the same side you are circling. So if you are circling to the right, throw a right hand. If you are circling to the left, throw a left hand.

Head punches do more immediate damage then body punches. Use them when you are going for a knockdown. Body punches will slow your opponent down but do less damage. Use body punches when your opponent is winning the early rounds and take him out late.

Uppercuts are the most powerful of the basic punches but they are the easiest to block or avoid. Straight punches do the least damage but are the hardest to avoid. Hooks are right in between.

CHEAT CODES

All Venues:
To unlock all the venues, go to the Main Menu in EA SPORTS Fight Night 2004. On the Main Menu, highlight "My Corner" and enter. Without moving the highlight car in "My Corner" press:

Left, Left, Left

Right, Right, Right

Left, Right, Right.
Now all the venues in the game are available for your bouts.

Big Tigger:
To unlock Big Tigger as a boxer, go to the Main Menu in EA SPORTS Fight Night 2004. Select My Corner -> Record Books -> Most Wins-Boxer and then tap the D-Pad up twice. You will now be able to play with Big Tigger as a Middleweight fighter.
